You probably won’t believe it⚡, but according to Ahrefs, 91% 📈 of all websites receive ZERO organic traffic online. I am Natalia Golenkova, US-based Digital Advisor, Google certified specialist, and Google Partner with hands-on experience in digital marketing & online security. Let’s find out how to resolve this ussie!

How To Check If My Website Is Not Showing In Google Search?

First of all, there’s a big difference between these two possible issues you might be facing:

  1. Your website is showing on Google, but it is hard to find it there
  2.  Your website is not showing on Google search results at all?

Why My Website Is Not Showing In Google Search?

There are several reasons why your website may not be ranked by Google at all:
1. If your website was recently launched, Google robots might need more time to index it. Although it varies, it may take as little as 3–7 days and last up to several months for a website to be crawled by Google’s robots. When you publish a new blog post, webpage, or website in general, many factors determine how quickly Google will index it. For example, website popularity and website traffic, content quality and industry, overall website structure and on-page SEO attributes, and off-page SEO endeavors are taken into consideration.
2. If your website is relatively new, check if your web developers added a request (code) for search engines, not to rank a website at all, and exclude the whole website or specific pages from the ranking. It is usually reasonable when the website is under construction and is often forgotten after the launch of the website.
3. If you bought a whole business or previously used domain or proceeded with risky Black Hat SEO strategies, it is possible that Google’s guidelines were breached in one way or another, and your website was penalized by Google. It means that your website might be no longer allowed in Google index. It might be a chance that you do not know about it. For example, you might do not have a clue about it if your website was hacked, or somebody owned your domain name before you bought a domain.

How To Check If My Website Is Showing In Google Search?

Step 1. Determine if your website is indexed in Google or not!

If your website is not indexed won’t be visible in search results. So, ask Google about it straight! To do so, please follow the simple formula below:

Type in Google search bar:

site:yourdomain.com
For example:
site: dmarketergolenkova.com

Here is how it should look on Google:

My Website Is Not Showing In Google Search. How To Check? How To Fix?
If the pages from your website appear in search results – then your website has been indexed. In this case, you face a much lighter problem: Google ranks your website, but it is hard to find it because it ranks it not very high. Consider improving SEO.
If nothing appears, your website is either not indexed in Google or excluded from search results.

Step 2. Add your website to Google Search Console.

Either way, if your website is indexed or not, I highly recommend following this step. It will shed some light on “Why your website is not showing” or improve your ranking positions if your question is “Why it is hard to find my website?”.
Add your website to Google Search Console. Google Search Console is one of the most essential and valuable tools for SEO ranking. Once you add your website to Search Console, Google will tell you some beneficial things about your website, including but not limited to pointing out problems that need to be fixed.
If any penalties or other problems prevent your site from appearing in Google search results, you will know about it too.

Google Search Console

Creating an account with Search Console is easy and free. The only tricky bit is ‘verifying’ your website, which you must do to prove that you have rights to this domain name. ‘Verifying’ connects your website to Search Console by proving you own the website. It is a bit technical, so get in touch if you need help with this. It will take time for all of the data to start filling in and you will find out the areas for improvements and issues that need fixing.
If your website is not showing on Google at all, after creating an account in Google Search Console, you should submit your website for indexing with Google URL Inspection Tool on Google search Console as shown on the screenshot below:

Conclusion

SEO is not easy, and there are other ways to drive traffic to your website. Social Media and Pay Per Click advertising are just a few. Although, as I see it, it is a reckless business strategy to pay for something that you can receive online for free. So it is worth trying to resolve the issues that might be holding back your website from showing on google or from ranking high. Now you should be clear if your website is indexed in Google, OR it is hard to find it on Google, OR if their other problems prevent your website from being ranked on Google.
